Monday morning superintendent Frank Lee moved the material into the new town hall. The plant now has a fine supply and once things are straightened up will be in better shape to serve its many customers. Contractor Mr Wilson reports progress on grading and gravel if weather remains suitable for two to three weeks.
A Tuesday morning stray shot struck the metalwork at Powell's Pharmacy then glanced toward Pressler's Auto Sales damaging property. A wardine warns against using firearms in the city and notes a second stray bullet in a week near the town's main area.
The Christmas Cheer committee plans delivering presents directly to parents on Xmas Eve to save expenses and allow parents to play Santa. A free show at the Electric Theater from 3 to 6 p.m. will accompany the event, with free admission for children and accompanying parents.
Word reached this week that Charles Howell Sr. died from injuries suffered in a mine at Nyesville the previous Saturday. He and his son Charles were at work when a slate fall struck him on the head and shoulders. Howell was 62 and had lived in the area years ago.
Saturday night Tom Dunlap and Harry Becker with Fred Barneby in a Ford auto hunted rabbits. They returned with 14 rabbits and an extra lamp and gas tank. The light was trained on a crossing rabbit and it was toppled with a shotgun. This method cuts meat costs and reflects utilitarian hunting.
Monday around noon a small blaze in a clothes closet at Mrs Nettie Sylvester's was stopped by Henry Rierdon and buckets of water. A second fire in lime at H Aikman's barn near town was quickly subdued. Wallace Deitz visited from Clifton and James Russell, a county councilman from Marshall, was in town on business.

The Red Cross Christmas Seals financed nurses visits, free treatment, open air schools, and literature to educate the public about tuberculosis. Last year $400000 was spent, and this year $1000000 is needed. every person is urged to buy at least ten seals.
Mr and Mrs Claude Ingrath hosted at 6 o clock dinner with the Cheesewright family. Sam Jones from West Terre Haute visited his father Tillman Jones. Mary Meek and Gertrude Cooke visited Rockville and Terre Haute respectively. Fred Murphy and wife vacationed countryward early week. Bert Bartliff and family returned to Johnsonville after a visit with the Keller family. Ed Hains asks friends to gift him a dollar per year for his 69th birthday on Dec 21. Mary Ferguson of Rockville visited with her daughter LL McCord. Pianos advertised by W A Laverty. William McCord in Seymour on business. Terre Haute trips by McCord party. Several dances, visits, and a Town Council session approving the new Town Hall. A minstrels night looms. residents urged to attend and enjoy social jesting.
