A reunion and homecoming for the relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Dr. J. C. Cook gathered July 31 in the Friends Church grove at Quaker Grove to celebrate Aunt Jennie Cook’s birthday. Relatives traveled from St Paul Indianapolis Parke and Vermillion counties. Sixty two adults enjoyed fried chicken ice cream and music with lively conversation. The group planned a next meeting in Montezuma on July 31 1914.
A Bloomingdale youth visiting a Montezuma girl from Sunday to Tuesday faced a mother’s threat to “bead you for $4 per week” if he stayed, prompting plans to return home with his trunk as reported by the Bloomingdale World.
