The Mutual Minstrels organized by Utopia lodge of the Oval Order of Moose will perform at the Opera House in Clinton on Saturday night April 29. The fifteen member company promises a first class clean show with top vocalists and comedians. Popular prices apply.
Educational Notes from Rockville papers extol Montezuma school in Reserve township. The facility has a modern building and high grade instructors with strong supervision. Music, manual training, domestic science and physical training are highlighted as well above average. Principal oversight and community support underpin the improved standard.
Montezuma high school triumphed in the Parke county meet at Rockville last Thursday, earning 25 points to Tangier Bloomingdale’s 18. Winners include Billings in high jump and 440 yard dash, Swaim in the 220, and a Montezuma relay victories with Bloomingdale and Billings. The local team led early but Tangier and Bloomingdale overtook them, finishing with Montezuma as county champions.
The Reds host the Blues Friday evening April 28 at 7 30 at the M E church. Mrs. Frank Mathas.
Mr and Mrs S P Hancock returned from Martinsville where they spent several days. Mr Hancock is much better and able to be about town, pleasing his many friends who are glad to know he is rapidly regaining his normal health.
Several children were invited to O. L. Brown’s home on Monday afternoon April 24 for a party honoring seven year old Juanita Prow. Twelve youngsters played games and enjoyed ice cream and cake, expressing thanks for a splendid time despite Lucile McNaree being away.
The body of Benjamin H Sheeley, 75, of Hillsdale, missing since April 1, was found last Thursday morning under a trestle between Hillsdale and Montezuma. Believed to be a self inflicted drowning, he was last seen walking the C I & W railroad tracks. Joe Potter located the body, hanging across a tree limb with the lower in water, likely washed there by high waters. He is survived by his widow. Short funeral services and burial followed at Helts Prairie cemetery.
Mr. David B. Hostetter of Putnam county promotes his bid for Congress in the Democratic nomination. He argues Putnam is the only reliable Democratic county in the 5th district, with a 50 year record of strong majorities for state and national tickets and noting a farmer as the district’s only Congress member since 1892.
A candidate urges all voters especially parents to consider carefully before choosing the next school trustee. He notes his supporters are friends who advocate for him and asks voters to go to the polls and vote for the candidate who will show justice to their children.
B A Chambers, Sixty five to seventy years old Civil War veteran, died early Saturday at home in the southeast part of town after a week long paralysis. Survived by son Charles Chambers of Exeter California, two grandchildren, two sisters and a niece. Funeral held Sunday at 2 30 from Brown Undertaking with Rev J C Whiton and burial in Brewster Kansas beside wife and mother.
An advertisement by Fred W. Phelps supporters touts his four years as Deputy Auditor in Parke county and his World War service. It notes his Republican ties, leadership of the Young Men's Republican club of Marshall, and that he would appoint a World War veteran to the deputy role if elected. The message urges voters to nominate him in May 2, 1922, primary and elect him in November.
Charles Chambers of Central California was summoned home last week due to the serious illness of his father, H. A. Chambers.

The Annual District Convention of Pythian Sisters meets in Newport on June 2. The Rockville Temple assists with the event. Mrs Pearl Boughton of Rockville is announced as the new District Deputy.
The Rex presents the tenth episode of Tarzan adventures starring William Fairbanks in a western titled Go Get Him. Admission is 10 and 20 cents.
Buck Jones stars as a fast riding exas ranger in a love and adventure tale. Harold Loyd provides the added attraction with a comedy presented for Saturday crowds.
Betty Compson headlines J. M. Barrie’s The Little Minister adaptation praised for her gypsy role that thrills audiences. Added attraction Nookey the monkey performs in a 2 reel comedy Fresh Heir. Admission 15 and 25 cents.
