Commodore Ernest Lee Jahncke will represent Governor Leche at a goodwill dinner in Monroe at the Virginia hotel hosted by the Missouri Pacific Booster club. Jahncke will deliver the principal address. R C White of St Louis will speak for President Baldwin. About 450 invitations were accepted by business and civic leaders from Monroe and nearby areas. Mayor Arnold Bernstein will give the welcome. The event includes a dance, entertainment by the Commodores and Missouri Pacific performers, and a program of solos and violin numbers.

Two Monroe Men Injured In Railroad Crossing Crash
Monroe men Herbert Osteen and Hilton Johnson were gravely injured when their car struck a Missouri Pacific tank car being moved across DeSiard and Congiy streets in Monroe. Osteen suffered scalp lacerations, possible skull fracture, thumb fracture, contusions, and shock. Johnson had facial lacerations including forehead and nose, ear injury, contusions, and shock. A second crash Saturday night killed Mary Hicks in West Monroe when her car was struck by a locomotive. Johnson of 600 Grammont Street and Osteen of Holloway and Thompson, Inc, had limited injury prospects. an X‑ray was to determine skull fracture and recovery chances.
