Washington May 27 Brazilian minister in Mexico City says the international committee complained Carranza seized six hundred tons of corn destined for the capital's destitute. Consul Silliman at Vera Cruz advises formal representations to Carranza.

W B Inahnet won a life membership for the largest recruitment, R A Shotwell Jr. earned a year, and Henry McCormick received six months. J M Keller spoke on Organization and Cooperation. Judge Charles Schulze discussed Oil and Gas Prospects. A Dutch lunch followed.
A young woman who registered at the Iron Mountain rooming house as Miss A Austin died last night. She may have formerly lived in Bosco or Riverton. Her body was taken to Peters undertaking parlors. Coroner C P Gray is investigating and may hold an inquest this afternoon.
Washington reports from London and Queenstown show Amb Page and Consul Skinner and Consul Frost could not confirm if the Nebraskan was torpedoed or hit a mine. One dispatch said the flag was lowered minutes before impact while the ship bore its name in six foot letters. The captain said no warning was seen and the company’s counsel E H Duff suggested a mine strike based on circumstances.
A western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma storm left six dead or missing and many injured. Two fatalities reported at Talmina and four at Checotah, with Antlers noting over sixty hurt. High winds caused torrential rain and rivers to overflow, disrupting communications in the stricken region.

Pleasant after his newspaper reply called one editor “under indictment” and the other a “reputed done fiend.” The statements appeared in multiple papers and Pleasant refused to retract.
Associated Press reports exceptionally cold conditions across New York state Pennsylvania Ohio and Michigan with unseasonable temperatures in the Middle West. The thermometer fell to 44 in Philadelphia and frost damaged fruit and crops in New York. Montgomery Alabama logged the hottest May 27 on record at the weather bureau.
South End England May 27 another Zeppelin raid last night killed one woman as incendiaries lit the town. Ostend dispatch says fifty German soldiers were killed by a bomb on a street car. Eighteen French aviators bombarded Ludwigshafen chemical factory. fire started in several buildings.
