Major Frederick L. Martin commander of the United States around the world flight is missing after leaving Chignik for Dutch Harbor in a 400 mile leg. Severe north Pacific gales for five days heighten fears as his cruiser Seattle has not been sighted since 11 10 yesterday morning.
Radio reports from the Aleutian peninsula at 5 am said no trace of Major Frederick L. Martin has been found in the flagplane Seattle which departed Chignik yesterday for Dutch Harbor Unalaska Island. Fishing boats along the route join the search for the missing aircraft.
Cordova Alaska May 1 At 2 25 this morning no word had been received at the station in constant wireless touch with the northern Pacific region regarding the fate of Major Frederick L. Martin.
