Christine Norman actress and playwright once named one of the world’s beauties leaped from a Hotel Warwick window in New York plunging 20 floors to her death. Five letters were found. one to her separated husband Enos Booth, who was blamed for alleged lies about her.
In Cambridge Harvard students voted 500 to 10 against the eighteenth amendment in its present form but offered no concrete suggestions for change.

Mrs Evelyn Miller filed for an annulment in civil district court in New Orleans claiming she did not know she was married to Frank Miller on February 22 1930 until the morning after. She says she later learned she had been drinking and married at a St Bernard parish justice of the peace.
Prof E M Wollank aged 76 prominent Monroe educator died at 5 a m in a local hospital after months of ill health. Funeral tomorrow at 11 a m in Delhi Masonic cemetery with Rev C W Spink officiating. Native of Germany educated in Berlin, taught languages and history in Monroe Shreveport Atlanta Pittsburg Kansas. Survived by widow Irene Wollank son R E Wollank and two daughters Mrs J D Herring and Mrs Ethel Bramble.
Nearly five hundred delegates from Baptist churches in 14 states attend the American Baptist association convention in Bay Springs Jasper county hosted by Mt. Nebo church. Most visitors come from Texas Louisiana Arkansas Tennessee and Mississippi.

Dr. M. L. Hoffpaulr, a Crowley physician for 36 years, died at his Lake Charles residence today. The veteran clinician was well known in the region and had served his community for decades.
Amy Schecter, leader of the Trade Union Unity League, faced lunacy charges after failing to persuade Judge Martin Fleming of her plan to aid unemployment. She was fined $50 for blocking traffic at a street Communist meeting and ordered held on lunacy. Others jailed or released on evidence.

New low cotton prices were set on the New York cotton exchange as a broad liquidation pushed May delivery to 14.45 cents per pound from 14.75 and July to 14.70 cents from 14.98. The decline followed yesterday’s close.
Leon Shepherd 28 a Griffin Auto Company mechanic died from burns suffered while attempting to rescue a customer’s car from flames that destroyed the old Fl Dorado Compress and Cotton warehouse. The blaze caused $100,000 in losses, six other buildings damaged and sixty automobiles burned as a gasoline tank exploded in Griffin shop. Shepherd rushed into the blaze to move the car and his clothes were ignited.
In New Orleans a state supreme court decision assigns custody of two motherless children, Royce aged one and Mary Ellen aged two, to neighbors W. F. Kelly and Mrs. O. L. Dawson due to the father Eber Owen’s poverty. The ruling preserves the father’s right to regain the children when his finances improve.
State supreme court will be asked to pass on the validity of Act 115 of the 1928 legislature after Judge William Seeber in city court held the act unconstitutional. The ruling found the act failed to indicate its object as required by the constitution.
Communist demonstration at Union Square led by Tom Krom begins as police disperse rioters. Across the globe outbreaks mark the day with injuries in Vienna and a silent strike in Paris. no deaths reported.

Douglas Arizona May 6 The mining camp of Baverac prepared for a possible Apache assault after Joseph Connell said five of its members died in a clash with border ranchers who had tracked raiders in response to missing cattle and horses.
A 68 year old father Michael Cates and his sons Richard 21 and Howard 17 were indicted by a federal grand jury on Mann Act violations. Authorities say they married women in several states over eight years to live in ease, transporting spouses across state lines and collecting money. The trio’s home was listed as Junction City Colorado.
