Italian and allied forces report their lines intact along nearly all of the 90 mile Adriatic front with Austrians checked widely. About one million Austrian troops engaged with gains limited except near the Piave river. Heavy losses attributed to Austrian forces. Hints of a possible Austrian counter offensive emerge from Italy.
London reports heavy German artillery activity last night along the Ancre river south of Becourt and west of Zerre according to a war office statement.
Italian Army headquarters reports ongoing combat along the Piave. Austrian forces suffer heavy losses from concentrated Italian artillery as counter-attacks by Italian infantry drive serious casualties on the enemy.
In the attack between Zenson and Fosselata the Austrians were checked everywhere according to a statement issued tonight by the Italian war office. The report notes limited progress and emphasizes defense rather than offensive success. Further details are not provided.
Allied forces report hundreds more prisoners captured around Montello with several machine guns. Paris announces in a local operation south of the Aisne last night that the French seized 100 prisoners. Prisoners were also taken in patrol actions between the Ourcq and Marne rivers.

Reports from an Atlantic port state the American crew engaged a German submarine off the Virginia capes yesterday and scored a clean hit that possibly sank or disabled the sub. The crew's account notes the encounter occurred in Atlantic waters with the submarine under attack by American forces.

J C Theus of Stubbs Theus Grisham and Thompson released an opinion to City Judges Schulze and Trousdale stating that adopting the Powell Bill form of government for Monroe would not affect parish tax exemptions. Md. Schmidt of Longview Texas reported the loss of four diamond rings valued over 1100 dollars. Three white men named Prentiss Tul George McCranie and A L Robeau were to be tried in city court this afternoon on charges of acting in a dangerous and suspicious manner. They were jailed pending investigation of the alleged robbery and thus far only the dangerous and suspicious action charges have been filed.
