Body Of Woman Recovered From Ouachita River
A 27 year old Monroe woman Bernice Downs was found in the Ouachita River about 15 feet from the east bank near South Grand and Standifer streets at 6 17 am. Police indicate the drowning as death by own action. Funeral arrangements pending Mulhearn’s Funeral Home of Monroe.

Di Giulian Named Guest Conductor For Workshop
Neville High School Orchestra director Roger Di Giulian will guest conduct the tenth annual Georgia High School Music Workshop in Athens Georgia from Sunday through June 25. The event is hosted by the University of Georgia and Georgia Music Educators Association with Don Wilcox directing the workshop band and Vito E Mason leading the chorus.
