Governor John McKeithen signed four bills to push tax collections for the final implementation of a four year teacher pay raise plan. The measures will bring in 18 million dollars in the 1971 72 fiscal year to finance the pay hike. He also signed a 1 million emergency appropriation for protection jetties at Grand Isle eroded by the Gulf. Additional bills allocate 1.4 million for the 30 day fiscal session and 130 thousand for the first year of operation of the Louisiana Educational Television Authority.

Northeast Louisiana Weather: Hot With Middle Week Thunder Threat
The forecast calls for mostly fair skies in Northeast Louisiana through Friday with highs of 90 to 94 degrees and lows around 68 to 72.
