Georges Clemenceau declares the Paris Washington debt agreement cannot be fulfilled and would threaten France’s independence. He appeals to President Coolidge to reject funding on a purely cash basis, warning France is not for sale and that reliance on territorial guarantees would repeat past misuses.
In Dallas a run off between Attorney General Dan Moody and Governor Miriam Ferguson emerged as the main possibility after the Texas Democratic executive committee met to canvass July 24 primary returns. Officials indicated Moody lacks a majority and Ferguson had not officially withdrawn, prompting talk of certifying both candidates to the ticket.

A Lake Erie mystery wave at Brant and Farnham beaches Sunday left ten known drowned with seven bodies recovered. Five missing were later found, and conditions included a 25 mile per hour steady wind. The under tow swept swimmers off their feet and two children drowned at Monhegan Isle after a similar wave.
New York city report states 72 year old Mrs. Lena Tidor was found strangled with a towel in her bed this morning. Her husband awakened to discover the body in the residence.
Weather and crime activity are linked in a local report. Friday’s 95 degree heat saw three injuries in auto accidents, a near riot at the ballpark, and several minor disturbances citywide. Cooler weekend brought unusually quiet police activity with no serious crimes and only one minor accident reported.

Gilbert Davidson, president of the Louisiana Glass Manufacturing Co. at Bastrop, visited Monroe and said the Morehouss plant will open September 1, employing about 125. Davidson previously worked with glass plants in Oklahoma and comes from Bristow, Oklahoma.
Washington reports 1925 farm equipment purchases totaled $383.7 million, up 18.7 percent from 1924, with domestic sales at $332.8 million and export sales climbing to $64.9 million. Farm tractors and traction engines led product classes with $120.4 million in sales.
