A heat crazed man at a farm home eight miles north of Yorktown Texas shoots and kills his cousin Mrs C J Mueller and then wounds himself fatally. A bystander or family member is in a hospital in likely mortal danger and a 8 year old boy found the body.
Local fans witnessed a late added attraction as Meridian manager Spoke Emery and Mets first baseman Pat Brazil staged a sprinting race after a heated dugout confrontation. The incident followed a collision between Cotton Klinworth and Brazil during the Mets rally in the sixth inning.

Mrs. Alice Carey McKinney of Ruston state president of the WCTU charged Governor Al Smith of New York as a black sheep in the Smith family. She urged the Democratic party to find presidential timber and said Christian women in central and north Louisiana should support Sanders for the Senate.

The Monroe aviation field will be renamed Smoot Field to honor H. Victor Smoot of Joplin Missouri, a former air officer fatally injured in a crash near Sterling, Louisiana. New York, Aug. 7. A wife who contracts with her husband to give him half her income cannot deduct that amount from her taxable income, the board of tax appeals ruled. In the case of Mrs. Edwin Appleby Robinson the agreement to share earnings and home expenses was deemed income to the wife and fully taxable.
Hernando Perna was garroted in Santiago at 6 10 p m for the murder two years ago of Mayor Villalon. It was Cuba’s second execution in twenty years, with Antonio Paula Romero reprising the role of executioner aided by Frank Davis of Savannah Georgia.
Four gas wells were completed this week in the Monroe field. The Palmer Central Immigration No 1 in Ouachita parish opened at 23 369 360 cubic feet daily from a depth of 2 160 feet. Other wells include United Carbon Burton No 1 in Morehouse parish at 19 538 460 cubic feet daily from 2 207 feet, Rae and Green O Brien No 1 in Ouachita parish at 1 980 cubic feet daily from 2 200 feet, and Maury Drilling McEwen No 3 in Ouachita parish at 7 704 000 cubic feet daily from 2 149 feet.
Richard C. Bearse, 26, killed his mother Mrs. Etta S. Bearse in Springfield Massachusetts. He appeared normal days before the crime, spoke of marriage, and was held in Hampden County Jail with a hearing set for August 13. Police described his condition as worse after the murder. Fred L. Bearse blamed infatuation for the act.
A westbound Southern Railway freight train struck an automobile at a crossing near Statesville N C. Mrs H G Teeter 60 Morgans town died instantly and four other women occupants were seriously injured Miss Pearl Teeter driver Miss Dorothy Hinnant Miss Louise Benning both of Raleigh and Miss Mary Neil Ward of Gibsonville were passengers. The car stopped on the tracks and the engineer could not halt.
