Transportation Agencies Urge Vacation Travel Caution
Government and railroad officials urge summer travelers to stay near home when possible. Travel tips include avoiding weekend peaks, using day coaches, packing light, and checking luggage, with delays and crowded trains expected. The War Manpower Commission, Office of Defense Transportation, and Office of Price Administration influence plans, and the OPA offers limited gasoline but extra food for resort guests. Families adapt by enjoying home comforts, gardens, and local resorts or houseboats on the Ouachita.
