Airport plans to add 70 or more fields in Louisiana
Director DeWitt L. Pyburn announced a department brochure on airport planning financing and management to aid local authorities building 70 plus new fields post war. He noted 20 paved and about as many usable unpaved airports exist, with sites listed for proposed airports and current facilities statewide.

Third Heat Deaths Reported as Orleans Endures Heat
In New Orleans on June 24 a third death from heat prostration was reported as a 12 day heat wave worsened conditions. Federal panel approves gas company pipeline abandonment plan
The Interstate Natural Gas Company, Inc. may abandon 40 840 feet of inactive Monroe pipeline to fund a new gathering system for additional wells. Two 1000 horsepower compressors will be added at the De Siard station in Fowler to maintain a daily capacity of 170 000 thousand cubic feet.
