The Virginia Hotel in Monroe will be converted into a Louisiana state office building to house about 300 employees. The Louisiana Office Building Corporation approved the $155,000 purchase with one abstention, after reviewing three site proposals by Twin City representatives. The plan foresees remodeling the hotel and moving in by late January or February, with state officials to review title and arrangements. Monroe officials praised the deal for downtown redevelopment and long-range plans.
