Marines Press Into Viet Cong Stronghold South of Da Nang
UPI reports Marines extended patrols at dawn to strike the Viet Cong trapped between American forces and Vietnamese troops south of Da Nang. They reported 72 Viet Cong bodies found and said heavy shelling and sniper fire accompanied the advance into rice paddies and trenches guarding the hill line near the Da Nang plain. The operation involved three Marine groups joining in a crescent-shaped push, with jets pounding the area and word of a possible larger communist force continuing to resist.

African Heads Seek Peace in Rhodesia Crisis
