Two Accidents Under Investigation After Vehicle Hits Pole

Three people were injured Friday when their car lost control and crashed into a utility pole on Paragoud Blvd. Victims Tory Kincaid Phillip Miller and driver Thomas Younse were identified as injured. Police probed the crash with limited details. A second crash at N 10th and Hilton Streets in Monroe occurred about ten minutes earlier and was also under investigation with no details released.

Junkyard becomes Georgia highway beautification test case

Willie Hicks operates a Hick’s Interstate junkyard on Interstate 20 near Conyers east of Atlanta. The federal program funds most of a two thousand foot screen of red maples oaks and dogwoods plus shrubs and vines to hide about 500 wrecked cars and a high chain link fence. State highway officials say Hicks’s yard may be the nation’s first screened under the program and expect planting to begin within days.
