Youth Killed in Rural Shullsburg Area Mishap
Sixteen year old Michael Christopher of rural Shullsburg Lafayette County died about 11:30 p m Tuesday when his car being towed by a pickup jolted loose and rolled into a ditch on a county road south of Dunbarton. Bernard Schwartz 15 a fellow occupant was reported in fair condition at Darlington Memorial Hospital. Michael a Shullsburg High School junior is survived by his parents Mr and Mrs Clarence Christopher and a brother Robert Funeral services are pending at O Flaherty Funeral Home Shullsburg.

NEW GLARUS Times Special reports two $100 art scholarships will be awarded to send two high school students to a University of Wisconsin summer art camp in Wausau. Recipients will be chosen by Prof. James Schwalbach. The Wilhelm Tell Outdoor Art Pair commits $100 for art purchases for the 1968 Art Fair in New Glarus Public Schools. Merry Monroette 4-H Club won the Green County dairy promotion trophy at a PMA banquet at Dane County Fairgrounds Youth Building. Richland 4-H club was runner up. Alice in Dairyland attended. Over 800 members attended as state PMA leaders spoke. Green County Dairy Queen Madeline Bosben and Dairy Princess Lois Lien were present. County leaders and 4-H groups received blue and red honors for multiple clubs across Browntown Monroe and nearby towns.

Monroe School Board met at the Junior High to approve routine business. Dec. 1 was set as the move in date for the new school. They authorized blacktopting the lot west of Lincoln School, installed fencing after closing, and approved a $2,960 bid. Transportation costs were disclosed at $590 daily and $105,000 yearly with $99,000 budgeted.

Lions Club Light Bulb Sale Sets Profit Record at Dinner
At the Monroe Lions Club dinner the Light Bulb Sale presented a check for 1420.62 to Walter Babula as secretary, the largest profit from the annual sale. A sixth grade Madison tour was discussed, with plans to switch to seventh graders but postponed until next year. A Lions zone meeting was announced for Oct 4 at the Swiss Wheel, with officers from multiple towns attending. Eldon Hird, Blanchardville attorney, is the zone chair. The meeting adjourned early for a Junior-Senior High School PTA session, with about 50 members present.
