Drafahl Wins Green County Wildlife Award for Habitat Project
Calvin Drafahl of a 145 acre Monticello farm wins the Green County Wildlife Award for a wildlife habitat program begun with hillside tree planting and expanded to 12 000 multiflora rose plants 10 acres of trees and two acres of fenced woodland. His 93 acres of contour strip cropping aids wildlife and the program draws civic groups visiting via Extension tours. The award will advance to an area contest with eight districts and will be announced October 10 at Lancaster.

Woman Taken Into Custody After Body Parts Found
Appleton Police Chief Earl Wilson announced an 84 year old woman was taken into custody after more parts of a murdered husband were found at her home. The woman was found in her basement with a rope and was taken to St Elizabeths Hospital under guard. She is Mrs George Schmidt living near St Josephs Parochial School. The husband, about 85, is believed missing for a week to 10 days.
