Charles E Wilson Dies Former GM Head and Defense Chief
Charles Erwin Wilson former president of General Motors and secretary of defense in the Eisenhower era died in his sleep at his Louisiana plantation at age 71. A Carnegie Tech graduate and Westinghouse innovator he led GM for 11 years transforming it into a major wartime producer and later held the defense post during the Korean era. He lived in Bloomfield Hills Michigan and spent time at Wilson plantation near Baton Rouge Louisiana.

The Green County Red Cross seeks urgent funds from the national body to aid Hurricane Carla victims.
