New York bans police and fire sirens for defense prep
New York City bans sirens on police and fire vehicles and ambulances to avoid confusion with air raid alerts. Civil Defense Director Arthur W. Charles H. Buehler of Boscobel Millwork Co says the burned mill, which housed 25 workers, may be rebuilt in the Monroe area if a suitable site is found. Fire began about midnight Friday with the time clock stopping at 3 35 a m Saturday and loss estimated at 25000 dollars. Buehler reports 1400 dollars worth of moldings and trim were saved Friday night and notes no cause has been determined.
