Ray Beckman of Monroe won the Wildlife Conservation Award of the Year at the Governor's Conservation Awards dinner in Milwaukee. Conservationists from Green County dominated the event, with Guido Bahr honored as Conservationist of the Year and Gov Knowles praised for support. The banquet honored ten recipients, all now candidates for national awards in Washington, D. C. next January.

A near record number of entries for the District Six Make It Yourself With Wool contest will be modeled by 10 to 21 year old girls using 100 percent American loomed wool. Registration starts 8:30 a.m. at Monroe high school with judging at 9:30 in three age categories. The 2 p.m. style show is open to the public, followed by a dairy luncheon. A grand champion and three runners-up advance to state in Madison, with further national and European prize opportunities for top entrants. Local merchants donated prizes.

Carl C. Stubbe 58 of Lena formerly of Monroe died this morning in Freeport Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at Stuessy Funeral Home Monroe. He married Lucille Wyss January 9 1940 at St Johns Church. They lived in California, farmed on the Wyss farm Route 4, then moved to Freeport and later to a small farm near Lena. He had worked at Structo Manufacturing Co in Freeport.

City Forestry Budget Seen At Forefront Of Elm War
Park Board pushed a forestry program with a proposed $30,853 budget for city forestry to cover tree removal stump grinding and aerial elm spraying. Over $20,000 already spent on elm removal this year while final Twining Park bandshell payments of $7,032.34 were approved to Simmons Woodcraft.

Livery Pioneer Robert Streiff Dies at 83 in New Glarus
Robert Streiff 83 of New Glarus died of a heart attack at home. A 55 year livery veteran, he retired in 1962 after notable projects including hauling cement for old Highway 69. He married Emma in 1907, celebrated 59th anniversary yesterday, and is survived by a son Alvin and daughter Gladys plus relatives. Funeral services set for Friday at Swiss United Church of Christ.

Car and Dump Truck Collision Near Brodhead
The collision occurred at 3 15 p m on County Trunk G nine miles southwest of Brodhead. Genera L Moss driving a car from Dakota Illinois and El wood W Hegel driving a dump truck from Juda Illinois were involved. No injuries were listed. The car had fender bumper and hood damage while the truck had fender damage. In Manila Mrs Lyn don B Johnson visited an archeological excavation and made an unscheduled trip to a second dig 60 miles away.
