Illness and misfortunes strike Moody family in Belmont
Paul Moody age 28 lies paralyzed after a traffic crash on August 30. He has undergone two surgeries and remains in St. Clare Hospital. His wife and six children, including Ann age 6, Gregory age 2, Michael 7, and Charlotte 4, cope with hospitalization and mounting medical costs as relatives aid. A benefit dance is planned in Belmont with Country Kings providing music.

Exchange students from Monroe High School spent the week in North Adams and Cleveland before returning, with arrival overnight in Monroe expected Sunday afternoon. A bus transfer via Evansville due to new interstate travel rules, radio WEKZ will announce exact arrival time, and a letter from Jim Zabel recalls their travels from Benton Harbor to Niagara Falls, Boston, Plymouth and Salem. The Lions Club meets October 23 at 6 30 p.m. with James Forbes speaking on the 1966 Masters.

United Fund Drive mobilizes 190 workers for eight wards
The United Fund final drive kicks off Monday October 23 with 1 575 families to be contacted. Mrs John Holtshopple Ward Chairman announces 190 workers will go house to house led by eight ward captains and a corps of volunteers. Each worker will bear United Fund credentials and wear a fair share pledge sticker. Ward leaders include Mrs Edward Knopinski Ward 1 with 27 workers and Mrs Raymond Esber Ward 2 with 25 workers.
