UW Official Earns Vote of Confidence

Ody J. Fish, longtime State GOP chairman and campaign strategist, will visit Monroe next Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. social hour and 7:30 p.m. dinner at Marco's Supper Club. He will speak with county Republicans, with remarks by Fish and Robert Miller, State GOP field executive.

Faculty backs get tough plan after campus riots

Madison Wisconsin Chancellor William Sewell won a faculty vote of confidence 681 to 378 after five hours of debate over a get tough policy following violent antiwar demonstrations. The meeting approved canceling Dow Chemical interviews and authorized non campus police if needed to maintain peace.

Times To Be Sponsor Again For Wisconsin Contest

The Monroe Evening Times will sponsor the third annual statewide high school journalism contest along with Associated Press dailies in Wisconsin. Any public, parochial, or private school student may enter in four categories including news feature editorial and sports. A joint program with the Wisconsin Journalism Teacher-Advisor council supports a student news photography contest with the Wisconsin Press Photographers Association. Rules will be mailed after Jan 1 with a April 1, 1968 deadline for entries. Gary Babler, Monroe, last year’s state sports writing winner, and his brother Kim, runner-up the year before, attend Whitewater State University.

School Bus and Car Involved in Mishap at Dane County

A New Glarus school bus and a small foreign car collided at a county trunk intersection near the Old Primrose Center Schoolhouse. A 32 month old infant in the car suffered a minor head bump. The bus had eight students aboard with no injuries reported. The car driver was ticketed for running a stop sign.

Be is Beckman Lake Named by Sen Rosleip at Green County Meet

More than 300 sportsmen and wives attended the Green County Conservation League meeting at Bluff View Park. Sen Gordon Roseleip announced plans to dedicate Zander's Lake as Beckman's Lake in spring, honoring Ray Beckman for his role in developing the lake. Directors were elected and a slide talk on Alaska and a Ducks Unlimited film were featured.
