New Doctor Starts Practice in Monticello After 20 Month Campaign
Dr. E. C. Aquino begins medical surgery practice at 145 North Main Street Monticello as the culmination of a 20 month effort by local citizens with help from Sen. William Proxmire and the U S Immigration Service. His wife Nancy Durtschi is Monticello raised. the couple has son Mark. The move follows a waiver aided by Monticello Community Club backing after his visa expired forcing a return to the Philippines.

The 1967 Green County Regional Writer's Club poetry contest announced 20 entries with no first prize after a disqualification. Second prize went to Mary Classen 14 of Monroe, third to Jean Batty 11 of Monroe, and runner up to Jean Batty's sister Sharon 9. Honorable mention went to Roxanne Olson 10. Cash prizes were awarded to second and third place.

Halloween UNICEF Drive Set By Monroe Youth Groups
Monroe church youth groups from ages seven to twelve plan a Trick or Treat visit for UNICEF on October 29. The event is led by Mr and Mrs George House and is described as an interdenominational community effort with adult drivers and orange coin boxes. Green County Mental Health unit elects Sulzer president
Mrs. Hans Sulzer of Monroe was elected president of the Green County Association for Mental Health at the annual meeting in the Green County Hospital. Other officers named were Ed Erickson New Glarus vice president Mrs Don Witt Monticello secretary and Mrs John Anderegg Monroe treasurer. A $250 scholarship was awarded to Loretta Heimann. Attending leadership training in Madison were Rev and Mrs John Engstrom Juda Mrs Sulzer Ted Scheffer Mrs Floyd Asmus Monroe Mrs Fred T Burgi and Mrs Don Witt Monticello. County hospital administrator Amos Johnson spoke on local treatment trends and the unique Wisconsin system noting most patients are admitted voluntarily and many return home shortly after. Meeting monthly on the third Tuesday in the hospital’s new wing.
