Monroe youths from grades seven through twelve plan a 6 to 9 pm Trick or Treat for UNICEF on Halloween eve. They will gather at St. John's United Church of Christ on Oct 30 to view a UNICEF film, receive canvassing materials, and be escorted to designated areas.

George Mosley dies in tractor collision near Darlington

George Mosley 76 was killed when his tractor on Route 4 six miles northeast of Darlington was struck by a milk truck driven by Walter Geissbuhrer of Fayette. The accident occurred at about 3 45 p m. Mosley died instantly. no charges were filed. He leaves a wife Myrtle three sons Floyd and Stanley both of Darlington and Homer at home a daughter Mrs Homer McGranahan of Darlington and Miss Florence at home four brothers three sisters and nine grandchildren. Funeral services set for 1 30 p m Saturday at the Methodist Church with Rev Botts officiating. Friends may call at Sharer Funeral Home tomorrow.

Beginning today, letter carriers in Monroe will deliver a card to every home for ZIP code submission. Households provide street address, city, and state with no names, return the card with legible writing, and drop it in a box or hand it to the carrier.
