Deputies Report Multiple Minor Injuries In County Crashes

The Green County Sheriff's Department notes two men sustained minor injuries in a two vehicle collision at Highway 11 and Youth Cabin Road involving a van-type truck driven by Robert A. Putnam of Monroe. Damages were listed to the car and truck front end and doors. In Monroe a parked car rolled from a driveway at 1721 16th St striking a bicycle rider and then another car, with minor damage reported to all vehicles and the bicycle. Additional city police reports detail several minor vehicle bumps at 17th St and 15th Ave and a 13th Ave crash with bumper and fender damage.

Percy Milwaukee Slayings Compared

Kenilworth Indiana police plan to compare the slaying of Sherryl Thompson in Milwaukee with the Valerie Percy case. Thompson, 18, was stabbed Sunday night returning home from a restaurant where she worked. Valerie Percy, 21, daughter of a Republican U S Senate candidate, was killed September 18 in Kenilworth.

Treasurer Unit Meeting Called for Wisconsin Association

Wisconsin County Treasurers Association president Ralph J. Kundert calls an 11 a m meeting of officers and the legislative committee in the Circuit Courtroom at the Courthouse. New Man Added To Monroe Police Department

Douglas A. Schuett of Monroe, formerly a deskman with Green County Sheriff’s Department, was hired by the Monroe Police Department. Acting Police Chief Dwight C. Coplien announced he began work October 13.

City approves parking ramp plan and names two advisory members

City Council approves rates and hours for a new parking ramp and confirms two new members to the Citizens Advisory Committee. The ordinance sets meter times from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, with Friday night hours to 9 p.m., and details 10 hour meters on most levels, four hour meters near Monroe Clinic, and a $21 quarterly rental in the basement. Gov Warren Knowles selects Leo W Roethe as chairman of a 22 member task force to review ORAP policies and funding and propose recommendations by Dec 19.
