League Maps 1964 Hunting Plans After Strong Population Reports

At Bluff View Park more than 150 Green County sportsmen meet for the Green County Conservation League annual session outlining a promising pheasant season with a larger wild bird population and three pre season plantings planned. The season opens at noon for pheasants rabbits and squirrels and 12:01 a.m. tonight for noon with bag limits set and land use largely on public grounds. Clarence R. Benkett notes stocking on Browntown Brodhead Albany New Glarus Brooklyn and Liberty Creek marsh areas and urges cautious harvest of squirrels and raccoons amid a high coon population and potential disease risk. Duck hunting reports show good success.

United Fund Nears One-Third of Goal at Monroe

The Wisconsin Agricultural Marketing Service says cheddar prices are steady this week with ample large style supplies and tight longhorns. Nationally American cheese output for the week ending Oct 10 is about 19 million pounds, up 6 percent from last year and 17 percent above the 5 year average. Swiss markets also steady with generally unchanged prices and fair to good demand.

Janesville Man Dies In Rock County Crash

A Janesville man identified as Peter W. Lami, 41, died in a rollover on Highway 14 about five miles west of Janesville. The crash occurred Thursday night. Lami, owner of a Janesville supper club, was alone in the car. The incident raised Wisconsin highway fatalities to 686 for 1963.
