Good Turn Day will be held Saturday Oct 21 with about 500 Scouts and 50 volunteers collecting bags of clothing and small household items for Goodwill Industries. Materials must be placed by 9 am on front porches or curbs for pickup and delivery to a collection point.

Levine Robbed in Chicago While Attending Convention
Wisconsin publisher Levine, 26, owner of the Chippewa Falls Herald Telegram and Portage Daily Register, was robbed on Chicago's near North Side. He surrendered wallet, $40, a camera, and a watch after a gunman demanded money and told him to freeze before disappearing. Levine was at the Inland Daily Press Association convention.

Dodgeville Student Dies After Horse Kick Injury
A 16 year old Dodgeville High School sophomore named a ooyce Roberts died at 12 20 a m seven hours after she was kicked by a horse at a riding academy. She suffered internal injuries and was taken to the hospital from her home around 10 p m. The victim was the daughter of Mrs Grace Roberts.

Residents oppose Brodhead curfew at council meeting
At a special Brodhead council session adults voiced opposition to a proposed curfew as 170 students signed a petition against it. The meeting featured remarks from school officials, the undersheriff, and the juvenile officer who argued the curfew unnecessary. A recreation center was urged, and John Andrews was named city attorney designate.
