Snowstorm Dumps Snow and Deaths in New England

A violent storm dumped up to 13 inches of snow across parts of New England. In the Boston area traffic gridlocked for hours as motorists abandoned cars. fuel and power failures left thousands stranded. Four fatalities were reported in the storm.

Fair Unit Plans Session Tuesday

Stockholders of the Green County Fair will meet in annual session at 1 30 p m Tuesday Nov 21 in the Circuit Courtroom of the courthouse. Terms of two directors David Cunningham and Ernest Hayes and all officers expire. The audited financial report will show a profit for the 1967 Fair. Officers are O L Doug Hare president Fred Ted Bur gy vice president Alfred Henning secretary and Lyle Rodger treasurer. Hold over directors are William Buehl and Kenneth Allen. A ninth director remains to be named to replace L E Kirsch who resigned prior to this year’s Fair. Appointment to be made by the Board.

Mrs. Herman Brugger rolled a 623 National hour count at Brodhead Recreational lanes with the Wednesday Night Ladies League. Her games were 219 195 and 209, spotlighting a high all time score in a local bowling event.

Guard Posts Struck By Vehicle in Mishap

A vehicle ran off Highway 69 seven miles northeast of Monroe injuring guard posts. Sheriff deputies reported the mishap occurred at 11 04 a m yesterday. A semi driven by Jessie M Wankler of Palatine Illinois struck the rear of a parked truck driven by Harold J Sanders of Monroe causing front end damage to the semi trailer.

Wiring Causes Car Fire in Monroe District

A fire in a Monroe vehicle in the 1000 block of 10th Street around 5:50 p.m. yesterday was traced to faulty wiring. Fire Chief Josef Benkert said volunteer firefighters arrived quickly and found only limited damage in the minor blaze to the car owned by Vernon Leopold.
