A crippling snowstorm and cold swept the Southwest with Las Vegas receiving 3 inches of snow. Phoenix dipped to 35. Monroe students arrive home at 3 00 p m after a 10 day exchange in Wyandotte Michigan. Adviser Fred R Simpson praised the Wyandotte program calling it second to none and noted the group gained substantial experience and insight from their trip.

Electric Clocks Slow General Power Outage Strikes Monroe

General power outage caused by a storm slowed electric clocks in Monroe and nearby areas at 6 a.m. yesterday. Donald Brown of Wisconsin Power and Light said the transmitter failed briefly due to severe lightning. damage was light overall. Rain and wind contributed to scattered outages, with .62 inches of rain falling over the weekend.

Three Persons Hurt in Accident Near New Glarus

Three Green County residents were injured in two separate crashes on Saturday night near New Glarus and Monticello. In the first, Paul Schroeder of Evansville and Marvin Zweifel of Belleville collided rear to rear, injuring Schroeder passengers James Allan and Carol Allen and Ruth Ann Zweifel with head bruises. In a second incident, Lois Burcalow of Middleton and Carl Jensen of Darlington sideswiped near Monticello, damaging left fenders. A third crash occurred when Vincent Sanders of Milwaukee left the Modern Club, going over an embankment damaging the car.

Plain Monument To Mark Grave Of John Kennedy

Plans for a white marble terrace and a low plain monument mark John F Kennedy’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery. An eternal flame will be lit by Jacqueline Kennedy and flanked by smaller tablets for the Kennedy children. Christmas Seal Drive Opens With Mailing of Letters

The Monroe Anti-Tuberculosis Committee started the annual Christmas Seal campaign by mailing about 4,250 appeal letters. The effort funds free X-rays for the needy, educational materials, and medical research, with last year raising $2,078.25. Committee includes Vernon Schillinger as chair and T. J. Fred Kuebli Jr. Taken by Death

Fred Kuebli Jr. 69 of Monroe Township died at Madison Veterans Hospital at 8 p.m. Saturday from cirrhosis of the liver after a long illness. A WWI veteran and former Co H National Guard member, he served in the Mexican Border incident and WWI, later leading a truck business. Survived by siblings Louise Bent, Eugene Klassy, William Luecke and others. services set for 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at Stuessy funeral home with Rev. Calvin Fischer officiating. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.
