Monticello Man Kills Wife Then Dies on Farm
Harvey Earle Elmer Jr. shot his estranged wife Joan Olson Elmer in Monroe at 7 30 pm and then drove to his Monticello farm where he killed himself at about 8 15 pm. The couple had started divorce proceedings after marrying February 28 this year in West Vista. The wife was hospitalized in critical condition with a brain wound as police traced Elmer to the farm. The incident prompted a coroner call and an investigation by local authorities.
