Jeglum Named Junior Citizen for Lifesaving Scout Feat
A 15 year old Monroe youth, John Jeglum, was named Outstanding Junior Green County Citizen by the Monroe Junior Chamber of Commerce. He earned the award for lifesaving a fellow Scout during a Canyon Camp for Scouts last June. Jeglum, son of Mr and Mrs Myron E Jeglum, helped fellow Scout Duane Hatfield who cramp during a seven mile hike. Ridnour nominated him. judges included Ronald D Johnson and John Purdy. Jeglum is active in Scouting, Indian dancing, church and Luther League.

Mack C. Lake 64 of Brodhead, renowned mining engineer, died Tuesday in San Francisco after a long illness. Last rites held in Oakland. Survived by wife Louise, three sons William James Mack Jr., and seven grandchildren. Born 1890, he earned a UW mining degree in 1914 and received May 1914 special recognition as a top engineer. He led Labrador iron ore development and Venezuelan Cerro Bolivar surveys. He served as president of Orinoco Mining Co. and retired January 1959, the same month ore first emerged from the Venezuela project.

Mrs Joan Elmer remained in critical condition at St. Clare hospital today though an attending physician said she had improved. She was shot three times by her estranged husband Harvey E Elmer Jr who then killed himself. One bullet hit her hand another grazed her head and the third lodged in the brain. The couple married last February and had separated with a divorce suit filed.
