Two Holidays May Be Kept On Same Date

Washington DC Special The House Judiciary Committee adopted an amendment by Congressman Bob Kastenmeier to retain Thanksgiving and Independence Day dates. Morrow Appointed As Iowa County District Attorney

Gov Knowles announced the appointment of J. Paul Morrow 35 of Dodgeville as Iowa County district attorney succeeding Wayne J Staton who resigned. Morrow was an outstanding basketball player at the University of Wisconsin in 1952 54.

Ag Leader Speakers at Monroe 4-H Banquet Laud Dynamic Youth Power

Donald McDowell director of the state department of agriculture was guest speaker at the annual 4-H leaders banquet sponsored by Commercial and Savings Bank. He praised 4-H leaders for creating dynamic youth power and warned of farming’s future challenges as one third of the world goes hungry. The event honored 15-, 10-, and 5-year adult 4-H leaders with pins as attendees noted service years from one to 31.

Monroe plans American Education Week from November 5 to 11 with the theme Visit Your Schools.
