Monroe High School plans outdoor 1969 commencement week

Peter Martyn selected to deliver Baccalaureate address for the 1969 Monroe High School Class at 8 Sunday evening June 1 in the Junior High Auditorium. Graduation exercises set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday June 5 at Holyoke Athletic Field with rain plan for the high school gym.

Monroe Junior High Set Monday Picnic Days for Seventh and Eighth Grades

Seventh grade picnics at Twining Park and eighth grade at Recreation Park are scheduled Monday, June 2, from 11 20 a.m. to 3 10 p.m. Students will walk or bike to parks with bus pickups for riders after lunch. The event includes recreation time, lunch at noon, and activities such as softball tennis basketball and hiking. Picnic clothing allowed. teachers will attend. plans aim to finish by 3 10 p.m. regardless of weather.

Minor Site Change Slated for Albany Building

Albany plan for a low housing unit will be redesigned relocating the structure farther south in the old condensery plant block. The existing site was found to be landfill and unsound. the building will be razed and a new architect engaged. Plans will be submitted to HUD in Chicago.

Memorial Day Parade and Veterans Observance in Green County

Green County plans a Memorial Day program with a 9 a.m parade from Lincoln School to Greenwood Cemetery including a 9:30 a.m cemetery address by Rev. Koehler and a Gettysburg Address reading. Veterans roll call and firing squad salute follow, with musical tributes by Monroe High School bands and taps. 1800 barbecued dinners available at the Fairgrounds hosted by Monroe Jaycees from 10 a.m. Drive in chicken pickup at the Tenth Street entrance.

Nurses Needed For Bloodmobile Visit In Monroe

The Jaycette sponsored Badger Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Turner Hall Monroe on Tuesday June 17 from 1 to 6 30. At least 15 RNs and LPNs and 20 volunteers are needed each visit. Call Mrs. David Wake to help and Mrs. Richard Carroll to donate. Mrs. Terry Buening is general chairman with Mrs. Kenneth Norder as Jaycette president.

Power Outages Reported in Monroe and Blanchardville

Two outages hit Monroe with a 3:33 p.m. transformer burn near Spring Square affecting 100 customers until 6:38 p.m. A second outage at 5:33 p.m. near 12th St. and 13th Ave disrupted 225 customers for 15 minutes, with full restoration by 6:32 p.m. Also, awards were given to three conservation committee members at Lake Delton.

Community Dairy Queen race narrows to ten hopefuls

Stephen Streiff reports ten candidates remain in the New Glarus Community Dairy Queen contest after initial voting. Names include Jane Duerst Joann Derendinger Merida Figi Cindy Duerst and others with top vote getter at 73. Voting runs to June 14 with crowning on June 16.

Travel Rally Weekend Set At Monroe Fairgrounds

The Travelmaster Travel Club Midwest Region plans a June 14 to 16 rally at Monroe Fairgrounds with 50 plus mobile homes from four states. Activities include tours, a Swiss steak dinner, a rodeo on Friday, a potluck, square dance, teen events, a pizza party, pancake breakfast, church services, and a final social session.
