Deputies Record Five Accidents Over Memorial Weekend
Deputies logged five crashes as Memorial Day weekend began. Cars driven by Adolph E. Gobeli and Andrew G. Frontzak collided about 8 p.m. on Dividing Ridge Road west of Monticello and sustained fender damage. Ronald A. Buholzer veered off Highway 81 four miles northwest of Monroe, hitting a fence. Richard A. Plager’s car left Townline Road near Albany, damaging fender and bumper. Loretta J. Friedly’s car and LaVerne Ostrander’s vehicle collided near Red Oak, causing rear quarter and taillight damage to Ostrander’s and damage to Friedly’s rear door. Eugene E. Haldiman’s car scratched a steel post and fence on County Trunk 1 near Monroe.

Memorial Day Parade Opens Four Day Weekend in Monroe
Memorial Day observances begin with a 9 a.m. parade led by veterans from Lincoln School to Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. Rev. Gerritt E. Mouw will give the main address, followed by a Taps salute from a Company B firing squad. Parade marshals Edward J. Doyle and Patrick Connors say participants assemble at 8:30 a.m. at Lincoln School.

Travelers Face Detour in County
