The body of Heinrich Himmler was dumped in an unmarked grave in the woods by the British Second Army after his arrest. He was not embalmed and wore a British army shirt. a pine coffin could not be found. A Tommy remarked on the body and the quick poisoning that ended his life as he slipped on a shirt tied at the neck.
Knights of Pythias and Pythian Sisters plan the annual joint memorial at Greenwood cemetery Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock if weather is unfavorable the service will be held in Castle hall.
Poppies sold like hot cakes as shoppers were tagged by many Girl Scouts and American Legion auxiliary members. Proceeds support disabled veterans through the local fund.
President Truman aide Harry Hopkins begins late today a series of discussions with Soviet leaders in Moscow. He arrived from Paris to meet for talks on postwar developments since Yalta, with Ambassador Harriman coordinating Hopkins’ personal schedule and Mrs Hopkins taking a Moscow tour.

A three hour blaze gutted the four story W. T. Grant company building in Oshkosh causing about 50000 dollars in damage. Acting Fire Chief reported the origin undetermined.
British 14th Army troops in Burma consolidate positions north of Martaban gulf preparing for possible invasion of Thailand. They captured Mokshitwa 14 miles NW of Pegu, controlling the rail line to the east. Farther north shells hit near Winkanein Shwegyin and a bridge at Tako was wrecked.
The high command reports heavy casualties as Chinese and Japanese clash near Tachwaping 25 miles west of Shaoyang with ongoing fighting. Chinese detachments wipe out a Japanese force on a plateau northwest of Taohwaping and recapture Szean in Kwangsi. In Fukien, Chinese reach Tanyang near Lienkong and Foochow, while pursuing fleeing Japanese northward.
Camp Grant Illinois appoints Lt. Col. Forrest W. Edwards of La Crosse Wisconsin as commanding officer. He succeeds Col. Hans C. Minuth and will lead the reception station for overseas veterans passing through en route to duty, starting soon after April 6.
A letter from M/Sgt. Robert Kramer stationed in England describes a V-E Day mercy mission to Holland. The unit dropped food rather than bombs at an airfield between Amsterdam and Haarlem, where bomb craters and wrecked hangars contrasted with waving civilians and flowering beds.
Mrs. Robert McGlynn, daughter of Mr and Mrs H A Everson of Gratiot, is hospitalized at St Clare with a crushed vertebra after a car driven by Clarence Knudsen wrecked four miles west of Monroe when a tire blew out. Mrs Knudsen suffered arm injuries and bruises but remains out of the hospital.
Washington announces no change to average grower prices used in fixing ceilings for 1945 cherry processing pack. OPA and WFA statement says district and grade prices remain the same, but if a processor pays below the fixed ceiling, the actual average determines the ceiling.

Richards, oversee arrangements with Mrs. M. E. Lynn and Mrs. O. D. Curtis assisting.
The Times received word that T/5 Carl Frederick Moen is listed among gold star heroes in the V E edition. Moen, a technician, serves in the European theater and his last letter was received this week by his wife.
AP reports a B 29 with one engine afire was kept in searchlight beams during a Tokyo raid but Japanese fighters did not intercept. Flight Officer Steven F Bodolay of Cleveland said flak erupted at the bomb run while Sgt Marcel M Arisol of Independence Wis described the scene as flying through a doughnut of flak before the bomber reached home.
Eleven light Pacific fleet units were damaged in Okinawan waters during raids Thursday night and Friday morning by a varied group of Japanese planes, with significant losses reported. The event reflects intense aerial combat over the seas near Guam and surrounding areas.
American B 29s struck Tokyo in a devastating raid aimed at the imperial palace complex. Reports from Domei and Radio Tokyo left unclear which palace portions were razed, noting the site’s dual political and religious significance since 1465.

Tokyo radio and Allied reports describe a major raid by B-29s on Tokyo and surrounding districts. The attacks allegedly destroyed the imperial palace compounds, the Omiya palace, several universities, hospitals, shrines, temples, embassies, and multiple city districts with fires fanned by a 70 mile gale.
President Truman asks former President Herbert Hoover to attend a White House meeting to discuss the European food situation. Hoover has accepted and is in New York. White House aides say Hoover’s knowledge would aid the food relief effort while Hoover has testified on Europe aid at the Capitol.
In Glasgow Montana a 26 year old mother of six threw four children into Milk River before jumping from a bridge. Johnny, age 7, survived after swimming to shore and reported that his mother hit him. Jerry 4 and Larry 1 bodies were recovered. Janet 5 and Howard 3 weeks were missing. The father later delivered a note in her handwriting claiming she was going crazy.
Winstron Brown of Waukesha delivered the commencement address for nine rural teachers, all seniors of Green County normal school. Howard Teasdale handed out diplomas as Rev Alvin C Rabieh gave invocation and benediction. The junior chorus conducted by Leannah Heisenfeldt sang special music. Miss Ruth Marion Lanz daughter of Otto A Lanz Monroe and William Ellick Johnson son of Mr and Mrs O N Johnson Monroe graduated at the University of Wisconsin commencement in Madison. Lanz earned a bachelor of arts in journalism Johnson a bachelor of science in physical education Marilyn June Nelson also of Monroe earned a bachelor of science in education.
