Sixty five Monroe Lions Club members sold over 1 000 bags of light bulbs door to door in about an hour last night with some teams running short. About 30 bags remain for missed residents at Blum's drug store. Proceeds support outdoor community projects and the club’s activity fund. last year 760 bags were sold and this year’s order exceeded 1 000 to meet demand.

Third Operation Slated for Jimmy
Jimmy Robertson six teen month old son of Mr and Mrs Merle Robertson of 815 23rd street entered St Clare hospital and will undergo surgery tomorrow to restore normal body functions. He has had two prior surgeries and is expected to stay 10 to 14 days. An intestinal birth defect was operated on Feb 27 but healing remained incomplete. Eleven days later the abdomen was reopened to rest and heal the lower intestines. The third operation will close the opening and restore the intestinal tract. Monroe area residents and organizations have answered an appeal for funds to help defray medical expenses for Jimmy.
