Deputies Probe Eight Weekend Accidents in Green Rock County
Sheriff's deputies investigated eight traffic accidents over the weekend and assisted at one on the Green Rock County line in which three people were injured. Two Brodhead-bound crashes near Monroe left four injured, with custodial updates on Mrs. Lochner and Mrs. Coleman in stable condition. Additional incidents included a deer strike north of Monroe, a pickup at Mt Hope road, guard-post collision near Twin Grove, a Monroe ditch rollover, Monticello area rollovers, and a tractor incident near Melvin and Jeffery Road.

Airlift brings in riders for March of Dimes event
A weekend Penny-a-Pound Airlift gathered 838 passengers to support the March of Dimes at Monroe’s new airport. Sponsors Delbert Krupke and Bob Hahlen praised the effort as pilots from Monroe and nearby towns ferried riders from 12 30 p m Saturday to dusk Sunday.

Grant Ritter 75 Former WEKZ manager dies at Beloit
Grant A Ritter of Route 2 Beloit died at 8 this morning in St Clare Hospital after being admitted April 26. A longtime radio and farm services figure, he retired in June 1956 from WEKZ Monroe after prior roles at WCLO Janesville and Rock County agent staff. He lived on a 260 acre family farm west of Beloit.

Sonja Dunn of South Wayne was crowned Lafayette County Dairy Princess at the Milk Day Festival in Darlington on May 20. She represented the Tri-Hi 4-H Club as nine county 4-H members competed. 1966 Princess Connie Motley crowned her successor. Kickapoo and Argyle bands won first in the band contest. West Grant and Darlington bands took second. Willow Springs 4-H Club led parade floats. Judges were Myron Jeglum Sam Hardin and Judy Hawkinson.

GREEN BAY The Wisconsin Conservation Congress approved a nine day deer hunting season from November 18 to November 26 by a 58 to 1 vote. The congress, with delegates from 72 counties, acts in an advisory capacity. seasons are set by the State Conservation Commission.
