Two Monroe Girls Awarded Orchesis Dance Scholarships
Orchesis at Monroe High School awards two junior scholarships for a Madison dance workshop funded by this year’s Orchesis concert. Overloaded Monroe Pound Seeks Homes for Dogs and Cats
Two dogs and four cats are homeless at the Monroe City Pound in the City Incinerator Plant basement. Call the Monroe Police Department for adoption information. A stray dog is also up for adoption at a Monticello home, described as more suitable for adults. The pound dogs include a 70 pound German Shepherd and a 40 pound black and white dog, found May 15. The black and white dog faces execution May 23 if not claimed, adoption, or viewable at the Incinerator. The German Shepherd is thin, around 26 inches tall, and stressed by an electronic flash. Owners must respond by May 25. Four cats also need homes as facilities are overloaded.

Honors Banquet Celebrates 1966 High School Seniors
The fifth annual Honor Banquet in the M Room saluted 23 Class of 1966 seniors with high scholastic achievement. Platteville students protest overnight parking tickets
About 40 Platteville State University students rallied outside police headquarters objecting to tickets issued after the city began enforcing an overnight parking ban on about a dozen streets. Officers issued 200 tickets. the ordinance carries a $1 fine and city officials will reconsider next Tuesday.

John Zweifel, president of Green County Teachers College, is hired by Cooperative Educational Service Agency No. 17 to serve as school psychologist in the ESA district. He resigns his current post and starts in August at 8700 dollars, splitting time in Albany Jefferson Lake Mills Fort Atkinson and Brodhead. Zweifel will conduct testing and counseling for elementary and high school students and their parents, drawing on his background from Green County Teachers College and UW Madison.
