Green County hosts new homemaker chorus debut at the high school in an overflow crowd. The event featured 1952-53 officers and center chairmen, a play by State Line Troopers, and a talk by Mrs. Luella Mortenson on home life stability. Miss Pauline Grossenbacher of New Glarus won the Green County Homemakers scholarship at the Achievement program in the high school auditorium. The $50 award may fund home economics or nursing studies. She is valedictorian of the 1952 class, active in band chorus and FHA, and plans college with a home economics major. Death of Green County treasurer Stauffacher after stroke
Louis B. Stauffacher 51 longtime Green County treasurer and Monroe resident died at St. Clare hospital after a second cerebral hemorrhage. He had been hospitalized since May 1 and returned home the night before his death. Born February 16, 1901 in Calamine, he worked with Studebaker General Motors and Ford before returning to Monroe as a salesman for Equitable Insurance. He and Florence Dettwiler married December 27, 1924 and leaves a widow, a daughter in Cyprus, a son in Monroe, six brothers and three sisters. Funeral at Immanuel church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
