Monroe residents are reminded that Lions Club members will distribute light bulbs Monday night as part of the annual Light the Way campaign for the visually handicapped. Speaker Chosen for 1862 Commencement Address

An overnight electrical storm hit the county around 2 30 am bringing high winds heavy rain thunder lightning and hail. Wisconsin Power and Light reported outages but no major damage and power was restored after a fuse blew at the Brodhard sub station. The United Telephone Co faced toll trouble but service should be back tonight. Over an inch of rain fell in Monroe causing gullies and soil runoff while cropland likely suffered the most. No injuries were reported.
