Star Farmer Award Is Won By Zimmerman at Juda FFA Banquet
Dennis Iman, a Juda High senior from a dairy farm family south of Twin Grove, was named Chapter Star Farmer at the Juda FFA banquet attended by over 140. He also received a dairy farming achievement award. James Schwoegler received the honorary chapter farmer award for Soil Conservation Service leadership. Jeff Wideman earned a sheep project award. Darryl Miller received beef and swine project honors and the State Farmer Degree. Dick Leaver received a DeKalb plaque for a crop award, with other seniors highlighted for outstanding programs.

Brodhead Police Chief Wins Salary Increase After Vote

Safety Is No Accident Topic At Green County Meeting
Red Baptist Beloit spoke on Safety is No Accident at the Green County Safety Council meeting in the Agriculture Building. He is past president of the Beloit Area Safety Council, Red Cross first aid committee secretary of the Beloit Fire Department and a full time firefighter. He urged a safety organization and left with the thought Safety is a Thinking Man's Habit. The council will sponsor a 4 H Poster contest on Safety and award $1 to every worthy safety booth at the Green County Fair. A social hour followed and the next meeting on Water Safety will be June 7.

First Bikeway Will Open Soon
The first U S bikeway to cross an entire state will open in Wisconsin soon providing 300 plus miles from La Crosse to Kenosha. The route will be dedicated in stages from May 14 to May 22 with Governor Knowles presiding. A dozen cyclists plan to complete the journey with overnight stops at eight points amid local celebrations.
