Monroe to Get 70-Bed Fireproof Nursing Home
Mid-American Nursing Homes of Arpin Wisconsin announced a 70 bed fireproof facility to be built in Monroe by Como Corp of St Paul with work starting by June 1 and occupancy planned for November 1. The site is in Monroe’s northeast near St Clare hospital on a 400 by 300 foot lot. The Monroe home will employ about 30 staff and feature a nurses station central to two wings, long windows, an outdoor living area, and enhanced safety with extra wide doorways handrails and wheelchair accessible spaces. It will include day room library interdenominational worship beauty and barber shop laundry physical therapy and a dental service with tray service from dining rooms.

Early birth follows car crash near Monroe
Mrs. Kenneth Feldt of Route 2 gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 12 48 PM after a minor auto accident on Highway 59 northeast of Monroe. The mother and three older children were en route from Sylvester Township to Monroe when the car slid, struck a snow plow, and she suffered minor injuries. The newborn weighed eight pounds one ounce and spent a night in an incubator before moving to a crib. no name has yet been chosen.
