Four gunmen slain as police close in Chicago
In Chicago detectives killed three of four gunmen during a holdup at a National Tea Co store on the southwest side. The fourth suspect, named as Chris Panteas, 28, fled but eluded a 200-officer dragnet. Police recovered the stolen $13,000. The dead were Michael Parille 37 Neil McCauley 49 and Russel Bredon 40. Juda Principal Assault Case Involves 16 Year Old Youth
A 16 year old appeared in Juvenile Court in Juda yesterday on theft and assault charges tied to injuries to the Juda high school principal. The youth admitted thefts from a home including spins cartridges and a hunting rifle. The assault stemmed from a February 28 basketball game altercation when he resisted leaving the school and shoved the principal, causing injuries. He had been expelled two days before the game and spent time in county jail before custody was transferred to the State Department of Public Welfare at the Wales School for Boys receiv ing center.

Parcel Post Rate Increase Set for April 1
Monroe area residents were reminded that April 1 marks the effective date for new domestic parcel post rates. The ICC approved increases averaging 13.1 percent, expected to yield about 75.4 million annually. catalog rates up about 13 percent, adding roughly 2.4 million if 1962 volume holds. Air and international parcel post not affected. Postmaster R. J. Myers said the ICC decision aids reducing federal treasury drain by 100 million. For a six pound parcel, delivery rises from 32 to 37 cents.
