Born March 1 1904 in Exeter township he later moved to Crawford and Green counties. He married Velma L Benoy Feb 14 1924 and they farmed in Crawford and Green counties before settling on their present farm. He leaves a widow two daughters two sons four brothers four sisters and four grandchildren. Services planned for 2 pm Monday at Zwingli Evangelical and Reformed church Monticello with burial in Highland Cemetery. Funeral home Voegels Monticello in charge.

Wisconsin highway official dies in accident near Elgin
William P Ward 38 of Madison secretary of the Wisconsin highway commission was killed when his car collided with a truck near Elgin. The truck driver Har G Kragt 24 of Hollatia Mo was not seriously hurt. Ward died en route to hospital. He had been appointed December 1949 to succeed D J Summerville. term expiring but reappointment confirmed. A Durand native and UW graduate, war veteran, survived by his wife and seven children.

Head-on Crash Injures Three in Sylvester Township
A three-vehicle collision on county trunk SS near Buhoer farm in Sylvester township at 7:30 p m injured three people. Mr Sam Balsiger and his wife, both 61 and 80 respectively, suffered multiple injuries while Marshall P Pengra escaped hospitalization with head and facial cuts.
