Public employees not under local or state pension plans will receive federal Social Security benefits under a bill approved unanimously by the assembly. The measure already passed the senate. it returns to the senate after assembly amendments. The plan covers 33 counties 85 cities about 600 school districts and many villages and towns, and is expected to win governor Kohler's approval.

Ganzel named YMCA staff member succeeding Westfall
Virgil Ganzel of Lincolns named staff member of the Tri-County YMCA to succeed Lew Westfall as boys work and program secretary. County Livestock Bring Good Price at Chicago Market
Livestock sold well at the Chicago stock yards on Wednesday. Cattleman Glen Gilmore from near Browntown marketed 14 steers averaging 986 pounds at 32.75 per hundred, with Gilmore presiding at the sale. Farm operator Harry Obert near Monroe shipped 212 pounds per animal at 22 per hundred, just 25 cents below the day’s top. Market spokesmen noted that 42.50 per cwt for cattle, seen recently, is not the all time top. the record remains just above that level from November 1949, while the July 1948 all time average high was 36.87, nearly two dollars over today’s average.

Rangoon The Burmese court of appeal ordered the release of Dr Gordon Seagrave known as the Burma Surgeon who had been sentenced February 17 to six years for aiding rebels.
