Green County Farm Bureau members gathered at Turner Hall for a annual dinner and meeting. Henry Schriver of Grafton spoke on Cows Kids and Co-ops as ten directors were elected including four new members.

At the village caucus 22 voters attended with Vivian Ingwell chairing. Incumbents Lincoln Barber John Metzger and Wilson Baker were nominated to two year terms alongside challengers Orville Kiel Jr Harry Bishop and Robert Watrud.

Recital by World Touring Organist Kenneth Goodman at Monroe Lyceum

Kenneth Goodman performed two one hour organ recitales yesterday March 7 at Monroe Junior and Senior High Schools. He played Bach Handel Mendelssohn transcriptions theater organ arrangements and popular tunes while sharing notes on the organ and touring experiences. Goodman a Juilliard graduate and former Barnes Fellow met Albert Schweitzer in 1954 during his Europe goodwill tour.

Swiss exterior design for ramp deemed not costly

The Board of Public Works heard that Swiss style redwood crossarms and canton shields on the new three level parking ramp would cost little more than conventional designs. Engineer Orville Arnold said the aesthetic trim is necessary and bids may be sought by April 1 with completion expected in October.

Senior Scouts Honored At 15th Annual Girl Scout Banquet

The 15th annual banquet honored 31 graduating Girl Scouts from Troops 217 and 242 at the Monroe County Club. Mil waukee leaders described hosteling as a personal or group pursuit, with ten year membership pins awarded. Dorothy Dauvis sat translated and Mr. Hotchkiss depicted hostels in Two Rivers Prairie du Chien and a Red Barn houseparented site using color slides.

Green County Board Rejects Bikeway Sign Funds

The Green County Board of Supervisors tabled a $200 request to fund 32 signs for a proposed cross state bikeway from Kenosha to La Crosse and a spur to Madison. Highway Commissioner Kenneth Mayer opposed signs as illegal in 1967, while supporters said the project would boost tourism despite possible route shifts to neighboring counties.

Mrs. Donald R. Morrissey of Appleton was named guest speaker for the annual Dutch treat kickoff dinner supporting the April Cancer Society fund drive to be held Thursday March 17 at Marco's Supper Club. Tickets are available and the event aims to unite crusade workers under the theme Fellowship.

Stuckey Honored at Monroe Rotary Meeting

William R. Stuckey, school business administrator and Rotarian, received a certificate of appreciation from Monroe Girl Scouts for leading a capital fund drive to boost camping facilities at Camp Birchwood. Laurie Usher presented the award as John F. Kundert spoke on Monroe’s industrial development and site-selection efforts. Plans for tonight's travelogue were also discussed.

Rehearsals Underway for Spring Concert "Springtime in Stereo"

Monroe Junior High Cadet Band and High School Symphonic Band rehearse for their March 22 concert in the Junior High Auditorium. Allan F. Barnard conducts with Vance Nelson as assistant. The 80 minute program features Rachmaninoff and Gounod, a Horn Bath rhapsody, Ilustrated pieces, and solos by Vicki Neuberger among others.

Green County Government Day Set With Six Schools In schedules

The fourth annual Green County Government Day takes place Thursday March 24 starting 8 30 a m with registration at the Courthouse Veterans Service Office. Six high schools New Glarus Monticello Juda Brodhead Monroe Albany select six juniors each for a one day session including a Circuit Court Room tour jail highway shop and agriculture building visits and a noon lunch at the Monroe American Legion Hall provided by the Zilmer Riley Auxiliary. The Accents perform entertainment and greetings come from County Board Chairman C S Pierce and Commander Forrest Riese.
