Rural Albany Man Dies in Rock County Car Crash
Dennis J. Schell 26 of rural Albany was killed when his pickup left Highway 213 south of Evansville struck a tree. He served in the Navy 1960-63 and was an Ironworker apprentice. Survived by wife Susan Potts and three daughters, plus parents and siblings. Funeral plans include Lemmon S D services and Whitcomb Janesville visitation.

Area Youths To Be Graduated At Wisconsin Short Course
About 148 young people will receive graduation certificates at the University of Wisconsin Farm and Industry Short Course exercises on Saturday March 8 starting at 11 a.m. in the University Stock Pavilion. Local youths include Richard P. Beutel Monroe Richard T. Weller Argyle Gary P. James Darlington Dennis K. Johnson Argyle Frank L. Schultz Warren MUil Kenneth G. Voigts Belmont. The 15 week course offers more than 50 agricultural related classes for students staying on the farm or entering related business and industry. The stock market meanwhile dropped sharply in New York with moderate trading.

Rev. Melvin Nickel and sister Joyce presented a program of dialogue at the Green County Association for Retarded Children highlighting independence for mentally challenged individuals. Joyce Nickel, now employed as a nurse's aide, shared her progress from limited schooling to independent living and work. The session at the Green County Special Education School opened with prayer and included a brief business meeting led by President Mrs. Edward Kaderly.

Elmon G. Ott, chairman of the Green County ASC Committee, urged farmers to sign up for the 1969 Feed Grain Program. So far 370 farmers have signed intentions. The program helps control production and stabilize prices while offering price support loans if grains are stored on farm or in warehouses. Drowning Narrowly Averted In Argyle Child
Pamela Kay Klentz aged 4 narrowly escaped drowning after slipping and falling face down into a water filled ditch in Argyle. The ditch held about two and a half feet of water caused by a clogged culvert. She was pulled from the ditch by her 7 year old sister Alvina as siblings played nearby.

Swiss Gymnasts to Exhibit at Turner Hall Saturday Night
The Monroe Turner and Schwing Club hosts its 41st annual exhibition at Turner Hall gym this Saturday at 8 p.m. Admission is $1. The club includes 40 senior members and 160 junior participants aged 3 to 13, performing on beam loops parallel bars and tumbling feats. A post show dance runs 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. with officers and coaches named.

Apollo 9 links up in risky lunar module rendezvous
Apollo 9 astronauts James McDivitt and Russell Schweickart pursued the lunar module across space starting at 7 40 a m EST after a docking hiccup. They planned a mid afternoon link up following a nearly seven hour separation and a high altitude chase above 100 miles. Madison(AP) Five University of Wisconsin endorsed measures would grant the university more authority over disruptive students on campus. A sixth bill to cut out of state enrollments to 15 percent was not acted on. The bills target unauthorized sound amplifiers, ban reentry after expulsion for a year, empower firing of disruptive faculty, mandatory review, campus closure during designated hours, and ban readmission for a year.

Hogs Saved as Fire Destroys Straw on Farm
A hog house on Eldon Rackow’s farm east of Orangeville caught fire after noon Thursday. About 140 bales of straw in one section were destroyed while hogs were led to safety. Faulty wiring ignited straw, investigators said.
