County Judges to Receive Early Pay Increase
The Wisconsin Senate approved an early salary raise for 81 county judges to 17 500 a year by a 31 to 0 vote and sent the measure to the Assembly. The move follows a Constitutional amendment adopted in April allowing terms for circuit and Supreme Court judges to begin without waiting for re election. About two thirds of county judges had earned 13 500 since 1965, with the jump scheduled for Jan 1 for many. The Senate also quickly confirmed Walter Renk to the UW Board of Regents and reappointed Francis Conway and Stanley Rewey to state boards.
